CRB'd Pump Exhaust Strategy

Caterpillar

Description

One of our older pumps (591-6356) was going to be cancelled and replaced by a new pump (627-6612). When this was decided, there was 302pc of the older pump still in our service network that was used for any down engines in the field. Since this was no longer going to be used and could be replaced by the new pump, there was a push consume this inventory that totaled $510,000. We were able to reduce and eventually stop ordering parts from the supplier and was able to start pulling from service to meet our production need. Once we complete exhausted service, I worked with our engineering to make the new part active and drive engine kits to consume the correct part number. Once the new part number was set up, I worked with the supplier to get new part numbers in stock before the transition date.
