Production Part
Approval Process

Purdue University

Description

In my quality class at Purdue, my team was tasked with conducting a Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for a company that supplied us sampled parts. We had three injection molded parts consisting of a servo bucket, base bucket and vortex bucket. To start we had to conducting a Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) study to prove that we could make comprehensive work instructions to have staff conduct accurate and repeatable measurements. Once our data was proven to be accurate we moved onto making work instructions and collect data on 24 dimensions in total on several samples. We used  dial calipers, Go/no-go gauges and a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). For the CMM we worked with making the fixture to hold the part as well and programing the machine to repeat the measurements on several different parts. With this data we developed control charts to determine if our parts fell within specifications and control limits.
